A Pool Profs Professional Standard Opening:
We remove the winter cover. This can be a standard cover and waterbags, or a safety cover (the one that looks like a trampoline). After removing, we take the cover to the biggest driest patch we can find, usually your driveway, and then we pressure wash the cover. We also use a cleaner specifically designed for this purpose. It allows the cover to be put away damp.
With the cover now removed, we check the filter pad and we reinstall the in-pool fittings, return jets, weir door etc. At the filter pad, we lubricate the pump lid o-ring, we reinstall the pressure gauge on the valve head, we reconnect any plugs, fittings or plumbing that may have been removed for winterization. If there is a saltwater chlorinator on the pool, we reinstall the salt cell after giving it a soak while we are doing other parts of the service.
At this point, we are getting the system ready to fire up, if safety cover, we fire while on-site. If it is a standard cover and waterbags, we will return to follow-up and fire the system. This is also the time to pressure wash the deck perimeter around the swimming pool.
If we remove a safety cover from your pool, we will be taking every brass post out of it’s sleeve to brush it off and apply silicone lubricant. This extends the life of the brass. With smooth in and out, the pin will not bind against the sleeve inside the deck. This is the life extender. Most sleeves break loose because the pin was seized against it with sand and grit.
If we remove a standard cover and waterbags from your swimming pool, we will pressure wash the cover and bags, fold the cover damp (having used the specialized cleaner) and then roll up the waterbags for storage until the fall.
Finally, we add a TRUE opening chemical treatment to the water. We use a CONCENTRATED algaecide, a bottle of the finest Stain and Scale Preventative and two pouches of 100% soluble oxidizing shock. A clean pool opening will allow for a clean and clear pool within a few hours of circulation.
If your pool is green or brown and cloudy etc. we will still add the opening kit, but you will require some heavily chlorinated product for problem solving. Our Weekly Maintenance clients receive the labor to clean up between opening and Weekly Maintenance visits at no additional charge. We can also quote you to get the pool in balanced, clean and sparkling condition to start your season. Let us know at the time of booking.
